The festive season is upon us, and Spalding Town Centre is gearing up for an evening of magical Christmas celebrations on Friday 29 November 2024, from 5pm. This year’s event promises to be a spectacular occasion, filled with activities and entertainment for all ages.

The town centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland, where visitors can immerse themselves in the holiday spirit. The evening will feature a variety of attractions, including a Christmas craft station where attendees can create their own decorations, and seasonal craft and gift stalls offering unique items perfect for Christmas shopping. Food lovers can indulge in festive treats from the numerous street food stalls.

Children and families will be delighted to meet Tinkerbell and Buddy The Elf, who will be performing on stage. The event will also showcase live music from local school choirs, bands, and singers, adding to the festive atmosphere. Visitors can support local charities by participating in fun games and activities.

A highlight of the evening will be the chance to visit Santa in his Grotto at Calthrops Solicitors, an experience organised by The South Holland District Council Chairman. Additionally, a fancy dress competition will take place, with the winner earning the honour of switching on the new Christmas lights alongside Santa at 7.30pm.

The festivities don’t end there. This year’s Panto cast will be making special appearances, performing on stage and mingling with the crowd. Spalding Academy’s rock band, choir, and ukulele club will also be performing, ensuring a night filled with musical delight. Some high street shops and cafes will remain open for late-night shopping, with specific details to be announced closer to the event. Families can enjoy free balloon modelling and contribute to the Christmas Food Bank Appeal to support those in need.

Councillor Gary Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Community Development including events, said: “We are thrilled to bring the community together for this wonderful celebration. Christmas in Spalding is always a special time, and this year promises to be even more magical with a fantastic line-up of activities and entertainment. We look forward to seeing everyone there and making this a memorable holiday season for all.”

In addition to the main event, Seasonal Saturdays will take place at the Market every Saturday in December (7th, 14th, and 21st). These Saturdays will feature free face painting, musical entertainment, a free Christmas craft making stall, seasonal games, brass bands, and roaming street entertainers.

Don’t miss this fabulous evening of festive fun in Spalding. Mark your calendars and bring your family and friends to celebrate the magic of Christmas together.
