Fun for all the family at Guildhall Arts Centre this spring

An exciting programme of events has been lined up for audiences at the Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham this spring.

 

The programme, which runs from January to April, boasts a variety of events and activities suitable for all ages and interests.

 

Younger audiences can enjoy giant puppets, enchanting songs and showstopping costumes with a fun-filled family show celebrating the magic of imagination and creativity. Join us for The Museum of Marvellous Things on Thursday 20th February.

 

Get involved with interactive workshops led by Creative Play specialist Hannah Peacock.  Storytelling Workshops based on popular children’s books take place on Tuesday 18th February, as well as monthly Disco Toddlers dance and music sensory sessions.

 

For the younger fans of ballet, The Princess and the Frog return with the popular classical ballet to charm the whole family. A post-show dance workshop with the Let’s All Dance Ballet Company is also on offer on Saturday 5th April.

 

Themes of wars, witchery and treacherous plotting will be explored in this re-telling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th March.  

 

Adapting classic English GCSE literature for the UK stage, Dickens Theatre Company presents the re-telling as ‘Revision on Tour’ to entertain and educate audiences of all ages.

 

Another classic to be retold will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory performed by the Harrowby Singers as the musical society celebrates their 50th anniversary. Venture into the world of Willy Wonka and his army of Oompa Loompas on Wednesday 12th to Saturday 15th March.

 

Music fans can enjoy performances from the Fleetwood Mac Songbook, a spellbinding tribute to over six decades of discography from the much-loved band, join them on Saturday 18th January. 

 

Other musical tributes include the sound of all American 70’s and 80’s bands like The Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Bruce Springsteen and more. Travel back through some of the great classic rock anthems with American Highway on Friday 28th February.

 

Founding members of the ‘The Blues Band’, Paul Jones and Dave Kelly come together to perform a live acoustic set on Friday 21st February with their unique interpretation of the blues.
