PARENTS and carers in North East Lincolnshire are being invited to attend two workshops that look to explore the impact of parenting a neurodivergent child and managing mental health difficulties in neurodivergent children.

The two workshops are delivered by Navigo and Compass Go, in partnership with the Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS), and are free for parents and carers to attend.

The first workshop, which takes place on Tuesday 20 January from 09:15am to 11:30am at Grimsby Town Hall, is called ‘Understanding Neurodivergent Children and the Impact of Parenting a Neurodivergent Child’.

The second workshop, called ‘Managing Mental Health Difficulties in Neurodivergent Children’, takes place on Tuesday 3 February from 09:15am to 11:30am at Grimsby Town Hall.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said the workshops offered a great way for parents to broaden their understanding of raising and caring for a neurodivergent child, as well as the impact that might have on them.

“I’m really pleased to see our partners at Navigo and Compass Go offering these workshops.

“We know that parenting doesn’t come with a handbook, and often you have to find out what works and what doesn’t for your child. With children who are neurodivergent, that can be extra-tricky, and these workshops are aimed at supporting parents with overcoming some of those challenges, whilst learning more about themselves, and how they can be supported whilst raising their child.

“I’d encourage parents and carers who are interested in this area to book a place on one of these free workshops.”

The two sessions are free to attend, but places must be booked in advance due to limited places. To book a place, visit: https://sendlocaloffer.nelincs.gov.uk/events
