Work on a village hall car park has been revealed in a fascinating new drone video – highlighting each stage of the £34,000 resurfacing project.

Claypole Village Hall is a popular venue for wedding receptions, parties, community groups and events, with car parking facilities important to its success.

The South Kesteven UK Shared Prosperity Fund met £23,800 of the cost, with the balance coming from village hall funds and a bequest from Claypole resident Margaret Barron.

Claire Simmonds, Chair of the Claypole Village Hall management team, said: “We are really pleased with the outcome – it looks fantastic and is already receiving superb feedback from the whole community.

“It's going to make such a difference to all our hirers, visitors to local businesses, and for parents who drop off at school.

“At the end of August, we received a letter informing us of a very generous bequest left to us in the will of Miss Barron, and that allowed us to have all the pathways resurfaced at the same time. We're incredibly grateful that she recognised the Hall's place in our community in this way and we hope she would have been pleased to see her donation put to such good use.

“All of the work was completed by Jordan Road Surfacing, whose contract manager lives in the village.

“We are very pleased with the result. The smooth, fresh surface is also proving very popular at the weekend for children with their rollerblades!”

South Kesteven Prosperity Fund is open to bids by town councils, parish councils, parish meetings, chartered trustees, and community groups to finance projects that deliver community improvements and build pride in place.

Full criteria for applications and an application form are available online at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/UKSPF

Applications are assessed on how the project responds to a local need, benefit to the community, and the feasibility of projects being completed within the required timeframe, while also aligning with Government guidelines.

The Claypole car park work follows a previous successful application for a total kitchen refurbishment at the village hall, built in 1923, and paid for by Claypole-born Harry Coulby.

The kitchen now has modern fixtures and fittings and upgraded cooking facilities that means those hiring the hall can provide hot meals and it can host food-related activities, such as cooking and baking workshops.
