Five adrenaline-seekers worked together to raise over £2,500 for Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire to aid them in their fight against loneliness.
On Saturday 17th August 2019, five willing fundraisers aged 22-57 along with their friends and families arrived at Hibaldstow Airfield ready to take on the 15,000ft jump. The unpredictable British weather meant that our skydivers waited a nerve-wracking eleven and a half hours before the wind finally settled and they were able to get in their plane and into the sky.
Friends and family nervously watched as the plane made its way 15,000ft into the sky, keeping an eye on it as it dipped in and out of the clouds. Within 20 minutes, the first people were spotted exiting the plane and soon all five of the fundraisers were gliding with their multicolored parachutes down to safety.
Cheers and clapping erupted from the supporters on the ground as the brave group returned to them with grins on their faces and memories to last a lifetime.
The money raised by the fundraisers will make a huge impact to the local community, putting this money towards Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire’s volunteering department. This department are responsible for the befriending service which suitably matches a volunteer with an isolated member of the community, giving them the chance to have regular interaction with someone. Something that can be rare for many isolated and lonely people in Lincoln & South Lincolnshire.
Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire are so grateful for the efforts of these fearless individuals and cannot wait to see more take on the challenge.
