The Big Jubilee Breakfast, People’s Park finish line event and road closures – all you need to know ahead of the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k

Get out on your doorstep to come together for The Big Jubilee Breakfast and support the runners of the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k on Sunday 5 June.

If you will be affected by the road closures that the popular event brings, why not take the opportunity to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and cheer on the runners with your neighbours?

Those living along the race route are being invited to come together to share chatter, food and fun. Why not cook up a full English fry-up or bacon bun to enjoy in your front garden? Or pop outside with a cup of tea to talk with your neighbours.

There’ll be plenty to do at People’s Park too as it is home to the finish line of the race, so get your friends and family together for the festivities it has to offer. Thanks to National Lottery players, Grimsby arts organisation The Culture House has been awarded funding to host a creative and cultural event during and after the race to celebrate. You are invited to enjoy a Jubilee Picnic in the Park event – bring a picnic or select food from one of the tasty stalls, relax and enjoy live music and walkabout entertainment. There will be a chance for children to make crowns and take part in a procession around the park, followed by the sounds of the Hessle Ceilidh Band.

The finish line event at will be a celebration with stalls and free activities. The Humber Taiko who attends each year will be drumming the runners home across the finish line.

Neil and Nicola Pattison, Tape2Tape race directors, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year by putting on the fantastic Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k. And what better way to come together as a community and to connect with your neighbours and enjoy a chat over the garden fence?

“And with activities, stalls and music, People’s Park will make the ideal location for family and friends to enjoy themselves.”

Emma Toulson, lead stakeholder relations advisor at Ørsted, added: “With just over a month to go, we’re really excited to welcome everyone to Grimsby to enjoy the event. The race is a great place for Grimsby’s community to come together to celebrate. Good luck to all runners and as a runner myself, I know how important the supporters are, each cheer and clap helps makes the event what it is.”
