Sponsors support new home-learning library to boost early literacy

Two corporate sponsors have supported an innovative, new partnership project at the children’s house nursery in Stallingborough.

OH Services Ltd, Immingham and Lenzing Fibers have each donated £300 to help develop a home-learning library for young children at the nursery.

The sponsorship means the centre has been able to invest in 30 ‘Going Home Bags’ which each contain a picture book and associated toy. The bags can be borrowed by pre-school children using the nursery to take home and share with family members.

Director Sylvia Tiffney said:

We would like to extend sincere thanks to OH Services Ltd and Lenzing Fibers for their generous donations. This has meant we have been able to invest in picture books to help support children’s early literacy.

There is a great deal of research which demonstrates how the home learning environment and a key adult sharing books with young children are crucial to children’s enjoyment of books and their early literacy development.

Nicki Fulton of OH Services added:

What a brilliant scheme! Reading with your child develops their speech and language skills, sparks their imagination, and strengthens your bond.

We are so happy to support a scheme which allows these values to be shared between the children’s education provider and their families.
