Road safety improvements to Littlefield Lane, Grimsby

Work will soon start to improve the safety of a road in Grimsby following an increase in collisions.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE, will be carrying out road safety improvements on Littlefield Lane, Grimsby, set to start on Monday 18 February.

The works will take place on the section of Littlefield Lane between the mini roundabout at Cross Coates Road and the junction of Littlefield Lane / Cromwell Road / Dudley Street.

What improvements are taking place?

The following works will be completed:

Improvements to the mini roundabout at the junction of Cross Coates Road and Littlefield Lane
Removal of the existing chicanes and replaced with speed cushions
Introduction of a 20mph speed limit from the mini roundabout to the Cromwell Road / Littlefield Lane junction
Sections of carriageway resurfacing
Amendments to the existing road markings and parking arrangements.
What impact will the works have while they are carried out?

The works are expected to be completed on Friday 29 March, 2019. The majority of the works will take place under temporary traffic lights to control the flow of traffic and ensure the safety of those carrying out the works.

An overnight road closure will be required to complete the carriageway resurfacing work which is currently scheduled to take place on Friday 8 March, taking one night to complete.

All residents affected by the works will be contacted by the contractor to confirm their access arrangements during the improvements.

Why are we carrying out the works?

A recent traffic survey showed an increase in the number of vehicles using the road and an increase in the number of road traffic collisions on the road in the last five years.

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, ENGIE, would like to thank road users, residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation during the road safety improvements.
