Community Learning offers a range of essential qualifications and courses from English, maths and ICT to art, employability and confidence building.

Community Learning are enrolling students on their Functional Skills Intensive maths level 2 course which begins this July.

It is suitable for anyone ages 19+ and is a recognised qualification equivalent to GCSE C grade.

Is appropriate for those whose qualifications may be out of date or who want to refresh and improve their knowledge of maths at a basic level.

Most employers, colleges and universities require at least a level 2 in English and maths.

It is also a requirement for Community Learnings GCSE courses which learners can progress onto in September if they wish.

Free childcare is available for the duration of the course.

Councillor Kathryn Wheatley, Portfolio Holder for children, young people and education said:

Community Learning gets many adult learners through their doors.

These are people who want to refresh their knowledge or gain a qualification for work or further study.

Their experienced staff will mentor and guide adult learners through their courses and support them in achieving their goals, whether it be getting into employment or simply being a better-rounded individual.

Sara Meller, Pathway to Employment manager said:

Functional Skills is taught with everyday maths and English problems so it is easier to learn and you can start using your skills immediately.”
