The changes will come into effect from Sunday July 21 2024 and are designed to enhance frequency and reliability, whilst improving connections, for bus passengers.
Services 3 and 4 will now operate every 10 minutes on weekdays, providing a significant increase in the frequency of both services. Service 3 operates on the route from Laceby Road (Morrisons) through Nunsthorpe, Grimsby Town Centre, and New Clee, terminating at Cleethorpes Pier, while Service 4 connects passengers from Laceby Road (Morrisons) via Bradley, Grimsby Town Centre, and Old Clee, also ending at Cleethorpes Pier.
Additionally, Service 4 will introduce new early morning and evening journeys, designed to facilitate commuting from Laceby to Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
A new service, Service 11, will operate hourly from Waltham (Cheapside) to Grimsby via Morrisons, Bradley, and Grange Estate, from Monday to Saturday. This route will also support commuters, including those needing access to the local care home in Bradley.
Service 12 will be extended to Waltham, providing more bus transport links to Grimsby Town Centre and Cleethorpes.
Other minor adjustments to improve the punctuality of services include Service 5 Grimsby to Immingham and Service 7 Grimsby to Humberston Road (Tesco). Revisions have also been made to timetables for Services 9, 10, and 250 Grimsby to Barton and Hull.
Matt Cranwell, Managing Director for Stagecoach East Midlands, said: "By increasing frequencies and extending routes, these service updates will reduce wait times, and offer more flexible travel options for those throughout the Grimsby area.
“These improvements are a direct result of our continuous efforts to monitor and respond to the needs of our passengers. We are committed to keeping the communities we serve connected and feel confident that these service updates will provide more opportunities to do this.
“We are deeply appreciative of the support from North East Lincs Council and their BSIP funding initiative, which has been instrumental in making these enhancements possible."
Jonathan Ford, Senior Transport Officer at North East Lincs Council, added “The service changes from 21 July 2024 form the next phase of the BSIP where we hope to significantly drive bus passenger numbers.
“The increase in frequency to the 3/4 bus services from every 15 minutes to every 10 minutes will provide a turn up and go service and the new bus service along Bradley Road will provide residents with convenient access to a new regular service.
“These new improvements will provide a better, flexible and reliable service to many and we hope to see passenger numbers grow.”
