North East Lincolnshire Council and Stagecoach East Midlands are pleased to announce minor amendments to some of their most popular bus routes.

Following a raft of service changes in July this year, funded by the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), further alterations have been introduced to help service users across the borough with changes to the 3 and 4 route to Laceby.

Currently, these buses travel to Laceby during the mornings and evenings. However, with upcoming changes to the timetables, it’s hoped this can improve connectivity across the borough and make the service more accessible for everyone.

Alongside this, there will be changes to the InterConnect 53 service which will run hourly throughout the day. This upgrade, made possible through Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding from Lincolnshire County Council, will provide a more frequent service for passengers travelling between Grimsby and Lincoln.

The increased frequency of InterConnect service 53 is a direct response to growing passenger demand. By offering hourly services throughout the day, the Council and Stagecoach East Midlands aims to better serve the community and accommodate the rising number of passengers relying on this key route.

These changes will come into effect as of today, Monday, 2 September.

Speaking about the improvements, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Infrastructure and Transport, Councillor Stewart Swinburn, said: “This is great news for the borough for a multitude of reasons.

“Improving the 3 and 4 services is essential for North East Lincolnshire, making sure no village or town is forgotten. In turn, this will see an improvement in the connectivity provided by the bus service.

“Rising passenger numbers is also a positive sign as we look to make the buses a mode of transport that all residents want to use. It may only be a minor amendment, but it will certainly have a big impact on those who rely on the buses to get around North East Lincolnshire.”

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “This improvement reflects our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for passengers by providing better access and connectivity across the region.

“We hope that the upgraded InterConnect service 53 and alterations to the 3 and 4 service will provide local residents and visitors with more flexibility and convenience when travelling between Lincoln and Grimsby.”

Bus guides are also now available from various locations across the borough. The guides contain information on bus routes and timetables and can be found in the following locations:

  • Grimsby Library
  • Cleethorpes Library
  • Immingham Library
  • Freshney Place
  • Immingham Civic Centre
  • Age UK Grimsby & Cleethorpes
