The map above shows motorists where the work is taking place, which is the A180 through Grimsby and into Cleethorpes.

If you’re planning a visit to Cleethorpes this Bank Holiday weekend, please remember that work to three key bridges on the main route into the resort could slow you down.

There are three bridges from the A180 at Great Coates roundabout to Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby - the main access from the west to the coast: Gilbey Road, Alexandra Dock Bridge and Cleethorpe Road flyover.

The work on the Westbound carriageway of Gilbey Road flyover is on-going and will still be on site over the weekend, meaning traffic will continue to travel in contraflow over the bridge at a reduced speed (30mph) for safety. This is likely to cause congestion at peak times on the way into Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

Anyone travelling to Cleethorpes is asked to allow extra time for their journey and/or use alternative routes.

The vital works to the bridges, which will ensure their safety in the years ahead, involves repairs and re-waterproofing all the spans followed by works to kerbs, drainage and expansion joints before being resurfaced, so the traffic management cannot be lifted easily.

If anyone has any queries about the works, please contact ProjectManagementTeam@nelincs.gov.uk.
