Work has now been completed on a new car park at the rear of the Old Vic in the resort, with the installation of a traffic island outside the entrance. This means that the car park can be brought into use fully.

Victoria car park (at the rear of the Old Vic) will offer both long and short stay parking. Meanwhile, High Street car park will be changed to short stay parking only, with a maximum of two hours stay. Blue Badge holders can still park for an unlimited time, and Season Ticket holders will no longer be valid to park there.

Both areas have been changed to support the ongoing development of plans for the Market Place in Cleethorpes and provide additional public parking within a few minutes’ walk.

Cllr Stewart Swinburn, Cabinet member for Highways, said: “The Market Place project is in the final design stage, working through the Traffic Regulation Orders needed to change the layout of the space.

“Part of the Government-funded project is to create an open, welcoming, pedestrian-friendly area, whilst taking into consideration the needs of the local community and businesses.

“We know that this project will benefit not only businesses, but also our residents and visitors in the long term.”

The changes to the Old Vic (Victoria) car parks will come into effect from Friday 10 October.
