Preparations are once again being made for the summer season, with temporary toilets being brought into the resort to help while the Sea Road building construction is underway. The old toilet block on Sea Road was closed ahead of demolition as part of the redevelopment of this area of the resort.

Construction on the Sea Road building will start on site in the coming weeks. The final set of utility diversions (BT Openreach) will be completed in early April, which will mean that the construction of the building will start soon after the Easter break.

As last year, several additional toilets will be put in the resort near the Pier to cope with additional footfall expected in the summer season.

Twenty standard toilets, 2 accessible toilets and a urinal bay will be put in Dolphin Gardens from early April, so they are available before the Easter holidays.

The toilets will be open from 8am to 8pm. In order to help prevent a recurrence of the anti-social behaviour seen last year, CCTV is being installed near the site and the units will be locked off after 8pm.

Councillor Ron Shepherd, Portfolio Holder for Safer and Stronger Communities, said: "These CCTV cameras are the perfect example of the Council acting on concerns to ensure the safety of its residents. Last year, the temporary toilets were callously set alight, causing unnecessary damage and preventing the public from using the facilities. The cameras will be making sure this doesn't reoccur and that everyone visiting Cleethorpes this Summer has a wonderful time."

The toilets will remain in place until after the summer season, when some will be removed, and then all removed from November, as last year.

The toilets will be managed by Lincs Loos. Other public facilities in the resort will remain open as normal, managed by Danfo.

People are reminded that there are also public toilets available at Grant Street, St Peter’s Avenue, Kingsway and the Boating Lake. Many food and beverage outlets also have facilities that can be used by paying customers.
