Christmas waste collections and top tips for the festive period

Waste collections will change for everyone in North Kesteven during the Christmas week, with bins either collected earlier or later depending on your usual day.

 

 

 

 

Some households may also see their collection days change over the New Year period:

 

 

 

Collections all return to their usual days from Monday January 6, which will be a black bin collection week again. As always, please remember to have your bins out by 6.30am on the relevant collection day.

 

See your brown bin calendar

 

Our garden waste customers are also reminded that brown bin collections reduce in December and January.

Did you know? after use, real trees can be cut up into small lengths and put in your brown garden waste bin.

 

Some charities are also offering collections of real Christmas trees, such as St Barnabas HERE.

 

Sorry, no side waste

 

We're unfortunately unable to collect waste left next to your bins, however breaking down boxes and squashing clean cans and plastic bottles can help maximise space inside them over the festive period. 

 

Extra waste can also be taken to your Household Waste Recycling Centre. Find opening times HERE, and check Lincolnshire County Council's feed on X (formerly Twitter) before you go for any service updates and disruptions.


Be wary of anyone who offers to take your waste for cheap - they could be fly-tippers. See our helpful receipt tool here.

 

The danger of batteries

 

Batteries must never go in your bins as they are a serious fire risk to our vehicles and crews.

 

Please take them to collection points in shops instead, or to your Household Waste Recycling Centre.

 

Electronics such as old toys, string lights and appliances also present a fire risk and must not go in any of your bins! Donate if in good condition or take to your local HWRC.
