After enjoying a big Christmas dinner, Boxing Day is the perfect opportunity to blow away the Christmas cobwebs and head to the beach, woods or park with friends and family for some refreshing Winter air.

Perhaps you have a favourite place to walk? Cleethorpes beach is a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors.

If you fancy making an change to your usual route, walk Southwards along the coastal path and you’ll pass through the saltmarsh. At the other end of the resort, you’ll find Fitties Beach, full of scenic views and the odd bird or two.

However, if woods are more your thing, then there are several to choose from. Why not go for a wander around Weelsby Woods or a dawdle around Dixon Woods. There is so much on your doorstep, so make sure to have a look at the other woods to explore across North East Lincolnshire this Christmas.

Choose a route from our great list of walks. With ten to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice with varying lengths, difficulties and sights to see along the way.

If you and your family like to do an activity whilst walking, make sure to download the Love Exploring App before setting off!

Search for the Winter fairies, track down dinosaurs or learn about the solar system with a range of interactive walking activities. Download the app for free and see what fun you can have whilst you’re out and about!

If an urban walk is more your thing, why not take in some local history? On the app, there are three heritage trails to explore. See Grimsby, Immingham and as you’ve never seen them before, learning about the historic buildings that once graced the skylines.

If you are planning on going out this Winter period, make sure to follow our five top tips:

  1. Wrap up warm -Pile on the coats, scarves, hats and gloves and some sensible footwear. Being a coastal destination, it can get a bit breezy this time of year, especially if you’re planning a walk along the beach.
  2. Get the whole family together –Include the kids and even the dog if you can! We have lots of walks suitable for those with prams, pushchairs and toddlers, and dog friendly walks too. Children will love to do the Dinosaur Safari or Space Walk available through the Love Exploring App.

  3. Say hello to people you meet- You’ll probably see quite a few people out and about doing the same thing as you, so it’s a great way to catch up and see how folks are doing.
