The Council’s tourism team at Discover North East Lincolnshire have compiled a handy list of fantastic things to do right across North East Lincolnshire. From places to go and things to do as well as events and activities this summer, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Grimsby
- Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre – Fancy taking a trip into the past? Why not pop down to Grimsby Fishing heritage Centre and learn about life as a trawlerman. After that, why not learn about local sporting inspirations at the Hometown Heroes exhibition or grab a slice of cake at the café!
- Kids Summer Camp – Held at Freshney Place Shopping Centre, pop along on Saturdays for exciting workshops and activities, starting on Saturday, 27 July, and running throughout August. There’s a different activity each week and kids taking part can get themselves a special badge. Meet and hold various animals to gain the Reptile Badge or join in with circus skills and science fun, there’s lots of excitement to be had.
- Take a walk in the park – If you’re looking for something a bit simpler why not take a trip down to one of the many beautiful parks in our area? In People’s Park, you can enjoy a meander around the lake, feed the ducks or just enjoy the grassed areas. While you’re there, make sure to visit the café, Coffee on the Park.
Cleethorpes
- Aqua Disco – If you fancy a swim why not pop down to Cleethorpes leisure centre on a Friday from 6.30pm to 8pm and enjoy cutting some shapes in the water at the Aqua Disco? Alternatively, enjoy the pool and aqua slide whenever suits you at the Leisure Centre, which is open daily.
- Heritage Trails – Discover the history of Ross Castle and uncover the historic past of Cleethorpes by adventuring on a heritage trail using your smartphone using the free Love Exploring App. Look at all the trails here.
- Catch a festival – Looking for something more exciting? Get yourself a ticket to events like Meridian Rocks on Saturday, 31 August held at The Meridian Showground. Enjoy a day of food, drink and some of the best tribute bands on offer.
Immingham
- Discover Tin Town - In 1906, hundreds of houses, shops, pubs and even a hospital were built to house the thousands of labourers over the six years it took to construct Immingham Dock. Just one building remains and you can take a look around it, make sure to visit the Tin Bungalow.
- The story of the Pilgrim Separatists – Find out about the Pilgrims who fled England in 1608 and then travelled on the Mayflower ship to establish one of the first colonies in America. Walking the Pilgrim Trail in Immingham will uncover everything you need to know about this historic moment. Make sure to start at Immingham Museum and visit their interactive exhibition before walking the short trail.
- I-Festival – Fancy rocking out to a few songs whilst kicking back and enjoying the (hopefully) warm weather? Get down to Immingham’s I-Festival on Saturday, 3 August. There will also be a range of children’s characters there to meet and greet your little ones.
