North East Lincolnshire Council and its delivery partner, Equans, are calling on residents to follow in the footsteps of new plot holders and transform underutilised allotment space into new plots.

Allotment team members are holding a drop in event at Grimsby Top Town Market on Tuesday 15th October 2024 between 9.30am 12.30pm to offer residents the chance to discuss being a plot holder and answer any queries they may have.

New plot holders have been enjoying the challenge of taking on additional space and giving the plots their own unique stamp when starting their allotment journey.

Taking on a plot between now and 31st December 2024 is entirely free, then moving forward the yearly cost for 2025 will range from £110 dependant on site, and concession prices are available for plot holders over 60 years of age, full time students, other criteria is also considered (fees are reviewed annually).

North East Lincolnshire Council and Equans have seen increased demand for allotments and, to meet this, the service has been able to expand the sites and use previously underutilised space within the allotment sites.

Why take up an allotment plot?

  • Grow your own fruit and vegetables
  • Support the environment and reduce food miles
  • Meet new people and make new friends
  • Save money on your grocery shopping
