This week marks National Careers Week, a nationwide celebration of career, skills, and training opportunities.

'You Can' is the official theme this year, emphasising the belief that everyone has the potential to achieve their goals with the right support and resources.

However, in North East Lincolnshire, this week-long national campaign will extend well beyond this Friday as the council and its partners look to carry on their support and awareness raising right through March.

The ‘Learning Lincs’ partnership is set to use the rest of this month and next to promote upcoming events and courses, share inspiring student stories, and dispel common myths about learning for those over 16. The goal is to spread the message that it’s never too late to learn something new, change careers, or enter the workforce. There is something available for everyone.

The campaign is driven by a shortage of skills and qualifications in North East Lincolnshire. By raising awareness of available opportunities, both the Council and local providers seek to support residents in gaining the skills needed for employment and career progression, contributing to a better quality of life.

Amy Gresham, Skills and Employment Lead at North East Lincolnshire Council, believes the situation can improve if residents are aware of the opportunities on their doorstep.

“We know there are many reasons why people may feel apprehensive or even nervous about accessing learning opportunities and taking their first steps towards a new future. If you are one of those people, we are here to ask you to come and see us. There are so many people here to help and support you,” said Amy.
