Learn all about the Army at upcoming event held at Grimsby Town Hall

Have you ever wondered what the role of the Army is or how you can get involved?

 

If so, make sure to book your spot at the Army Engagement Group event at Grimsby Town Hall on Wednesday, 9 October. The free event will see a range of Army personnel who tour the country discuss a wide variety of topics to give them a greater understanding of the Army, who they are, what we do and how they contribute to society.

 

The night will begin at 6.30pm where guests will be welcomed by the group whilst refreshments are served. A presentation will be held at 7pm giving greater detail of the Army’s role and purpose before there is the opportunity to ask any questions you may have to a Lieutenant Colonel.

 

Following this, there will be a buffet to end the event giving those who attend the chance to speak to the Army Engagement Group.

 

There will also be a medal presentation where local reservists will receive the King’s Coronation Medal which is a thank you to all those who have served in the Armed Forces for over 5 years, or helped during the Coronation of King Charles III.

 

Other recipients have included St John Ambulance Personnel, police officers and Choristers.

 

Speaking about the event, Portfolio Holder for Safer and Stronger Communities, Councillor Ron Shepherd, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents both young and old to understand what the role of the Army really is.

 

“They are an integral part of the security of our nation and it is a pleasure to welcome them to North East Lincolnshire.”

 

Sergeant Mat Hardy, Regimental Mentoring Support Officer, 4 (Lincolnshire) Company, 3 Royal Anglian, added: “I am excited to announce that the Army Engagement Group, with 3 Royal Anglian, your local Army Reserve Unit, are coming to Grimsby Town Hall. On the 9th of October they will hold a presentation for the public to help showcase what the Army do, who we are and how we contribute to society.

 

“You will have the rare chance to ask a serving Lieutenant Colonel any questions you want about the Army of today and the future. The evening will conclude with a presentation of King Charles III Coronation Medals to Royal Anglian Reservists from Grimsby by the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire and a free buffet. This is a unique opportunity to get to know the Army first hand, so don’t miss out.”
