There will be a final opportunity for anyone who wishes to engage in the Selective Licensing consultation for the East Marsh to take part in an online event on Tuesday April 1 2025.

The event will take place from 5.30-7pm and is open to residents, landlords, businesses, and neighbours who may be affected. To access the meeting on the day click here Have your say - NELC | NELC

The Selective Licensing consultation has been running for 10 weeks and will end on Monday April 7 2025.

North East Lincolnshire Council wants your views on the introduction of the proposed scheme with the aim of improving housing standards in privately-rented homes, and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.

Selective Licensing would mean that all private landlords must hold a valid licence before renting out a property. Landlords would need to ensure that their property is up to standard to meet their licence obligations.

So far, local residents, landlords, and neighbours and businesses nearby have had the opportunity to attend a number of face-to-face and online events to discuss the scheme and give their views.

Cllr Stewart Swinburn, NELC Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “The areas where the council is considering implementing this scheme have significant problems. We want to tackle these issues. To do so, it is very important that we gather as many views as possible and that we consider these views, so I urge people to take part in this consultation so that we can get as clear a picture as possible.”

Full details about the proposal including fees, licence conditions and scheme boundaries can be found at Have your say - NELC | NELC

Here you can also have your say by answering questions and leaving comments. There are questions for each type of stakeholder together with a library of all the documents about the proposed schemes. A paper copy of the scheme can be provided upon request. There are also copies of recent presentations specific to residents and landlords.

Please note that online presentations are available on the Council’s website, so you can view these at a time when it is convenient for you. Selective Licensing - NELC
