The Armed Forces Day flags are due to be raised across the borough on Monday ahead of a weekend of celebrations, including the National Armed Forces Day.

Organised by the Armed Forces Major Events Team, the flag will be raised in Cleethorpes at the Armed Forces Memorial Gate at the top of Sea View Street to mark the occasion at 11am. The service will be attended by people from across the armed forces community, veterans and the standards from lots of different armed forces organisations.

The flag will also be raised at the Town Hall in Grimsby at 10am in a short service, attended by local armed forces veterans from Fairways Care Home, located on Little Coates Road. The care home recently joined the Veterans Friendly Framework, a national initiative supporting care homes to provide tailored care, recognition and understanding for those who have served in the armed forces.

Residents are encouraged to attend the flag raising ceremonies and show their support for the armed forces community at one of the events.
