Our Christmas opening times

We will be closed for the Christmas break from Tuesday 24 December and re-open on Thursday 2 January 2025.

Until then, there’s so much festive fun to enjoy with exhibitions, last minute gift shopping, crafts, food and our Victorian Scene in the vestry for the perfect Christmas photo.

Experience 'All Together Now' by Chad McCail

Our latest exhibition, 'All Together Now' by Chad McCail, has been captivating visitors with its exceptional craftsmanship and thought-provoking themes. This intricate display features factories, farms, churches, and military installations, all recreated on a miniature scale using cardboard, wood, insulation foam, and papier-mâché.

Set within this imaginative landscape, a dramatic battle unfolds between the many and the few—not just for control of the city but for the very essence of freedom itself.

We are proud to partner with Turntable Gallery to present this major new exhibition.

Come and visit us to take a look or find out more about the exhibition on our website.

Current exhibitions

Flourish Award 2024

Running now until 1 March 2025.

The Flourish Award celebrates excellence in printmaking and is increasingly recognised as a nationally significant art prize. Presented here for the first time, this year’s selection includes a shortlist of 15 of the UK’s leading printmakers, and celebrates the 40th anniversary of competition organisers, West Yorkshire Print Workshop.

Chad McCail – All Together Now

Running now until 22 February 2025.

In Chad McCail’s immersive installation, viewers will enter an enormous three-dimensional miniature cityscape which includes schools, factories, offices and workplaces, hospitals, military sites, and beyond.

Here, a war is being waged between gigantic creatures, that are fighting not only for control of the resources of this city, but for its soul. The work is full of extraordinary details which creates an intense and almost surreal experience for visitors.

We are thrilled to welcome back artist Julie Oxenforth, who will be teaching the timeless and essential skill of life drawing.

November Successes

A Victorian Christmas

Despite Storm Bert’s blustery weather, our Victorian Christmas Event for the lights switch-on was full of festive charm.

A green-clad Victorian Father Christmas delighted visitors, while milliner Jo Miller impressed with her Christmas headpiece workshop.

The Vestry was transformed into a picturesque Victorian Christmas scene, complete with songs from Mrs Christmas enhancing the magical atmosphere of the Chad McCail Exhibition. Our new Christmas menu was a resounding success, with the Christmas dirty fries a particular highlight. Thank you to everyone who made the day unforgettable.

Miniatures return to 20-21 with Luke Foster

We are delighted to announce the return of miniatures to 20-21, featuring Hull-based artist Luke Foster.

Known for his intricate and detailed miniature dioramas. Luke's work is the latest in our 'Introducing' exhibitions, a series of small-scale solo shows spotlighting artists from the local region.

This new collection is displayed alongside selected pieces from his previous work, including those showcased in the 'Art in Miniature' exhibition at 20-21 during summer 2023.

Call for Community Cast: Be Part of Arc in Movement

Celebrate North Lincolnshire and allyship by joining our community cast for 'Arc in Movement', an extraordinary film and exhibition project taking place in 2025. This is your chance to be part of something truly unique and help tell the story of our region.

We are inviting individuals, families, and friends to participate in this national creative project, which will culminate in a stunning exhibition at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre in Autumn 2025 before touring nationally.

The community cast will be guided by Riot, North Lincolnshire’s renowned dance company based at the Baths Hall.

Together, we’ll create a striking mass movement sequence to be filmed in Scunthorpe town centre in April 2025. No dance experience is required and everyone is welcome.

This project, led by Fred Garland of Tenfoot Dance Company, aspires to be part of a landmark 2028 presentation celebrating the centenary of universal suffrage in London.
