Is it a walk to St James' Square, a trip to the Festival of the Sea every year, or snakes and ladders on the seafront - how do you get up, get active and play?

PLAY is something everyone in North East Lincolnshire should enjoy!

Whether you’re eight, 18 or 88, people should find something in life that keeps their limbs moving and brains active. And that’s why we’re trying to discover just what play means to everyone here in North East Lincolnshire.

It could be a game of bowls in People’s Park, a trip to the swings, a visit to the Ice Rink, a game of bingo, a swim at one of our leisure centres, a coffee morning with friends or simply a walk or ride out.

North East Lincolnshire Council is currently working with other partner groups to agree a shared ‘Play Charter’.

Once this is in place the council will look at what it should support to make sure that our borough grows into a ‘Playful Place’ - with activities that people want and that can help everyone live better lives.

This short survey will help us to understand how people of all ages feel about play, what it means to them and what would help them to ‘play’ more.

Diane Lee is the council’s Director of Public Health, and explains: “When we enjoy activity, we should remember that’s play! It helps us to keep active, to make friends and vitally improves our mood. All of these things lead to better health, and that is what we want to see for everyone.”
