Every parent who applied for a place at infants or primary school for their child this year have been allocated their preferred choice, North East Lincolnshire Council have revealed.

Parents and carers of children who are due to start at infants or primary school for the first time in September 2025, have been notified of their child’s school place allocation decision on National Offer Day.

A total of 1354 applications were received for children living in North East Lincolnshire by the published closing date. Of those, 100% were offered their 1st preference school, with no local applicants requiring a place at an alternative or next nearest school with availability.

This is unprecedented in North East Lincolnshire.

Any late applications or changes to previously submitted preferences will be considered at a second round of allocation in May 2025.

Parents and carers who applied through the dedicated online admissions Parent Portal were notified by email. Anyone that applied otherwise (such as on a paper application form) have been notified by post.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“I’m really pleased to see that all of our parents and carers have been allocated their preferred place for their child.

“We know that the allocation of school places can be quite a complex task, so this is a fantastic achievement and I congratulate the admissions team on their great work.”

The Council’s School Admissions Team is available to offer impartial advice to parents and carers.

Information about the application process is available on the Council’s website at: Apply for a school place | NELC (nelincs.gov.uk)

Last year, a total of 1398 applications were received for children living in North East Lincolnshire by the published closing date.

Of those, 99.36% were offered their 1st preference school and 0.5% were offered their 2nd preference.

0.14% of applicants were not offered any of their preferred schools and were allocated a place at their catchment or next nearest school with availability, in line with published arrangements.
