The event, which took place at Heritage House in Grimsby town centre on Tuesday, celebrated the work of the teams and individuals who work in the local adult social care sector, and their strong partnerships.
Adults in North East Lincolnshire who are in need of significant care supported by some-145 social workers, across statutory, voluntary and community services.
Councillor Stan Shreeve, deputy leader of North East Lincolnshire Council and portfolio holder for health, wellbeing and adult social care, said: “Collectively, adult social care workers support more than 10,000 adults, carers and families every year in North East Lincolnshire.
“The community interest companies that the Council and Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (HNYICB) commission to provide adult social care are key to supporting individuals in our area and empowering them to be as independent as possible.
“World Social Work Day shines a light on the work that social care workers do throughout the year and the value of it in supporting members of our community in their everyday lives.”
John Allen, Adult Principal Social Worker at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:
“On World Social Work Day, we celebrate the incredible work of social workers across North East Lincolnshire and across the world.
“Social work is a profession rooted in compassion, resilience, and the unwavering belief in the potential of every person. It is through our collective efforts that we can create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Today is a reminder of the importance of working together, across different sectors and disciplines, to address the complex challenges faced by our communities.
“We embrace inclusivity and value the unique contributions of every individual. By honouring and respecting these differences, we can build stronger, more cohesive communities.
“As we reflect on the achievements of social workers across the sector, we are reminded of the power and strength of unity and collaboration. While we know there is more work to do, together we can create meaningful change for our North East Lincolnshire communities and our sector.”
Chief Executive Officer of Focus Independent Adult Social Work, Lee Mair, said: “Focus is thrilled to be celebrating World Social Work Day with our colleagues from North East Lincolnshire Council, Navigo, Care Plus Group and the voluntary sector.
“Today is a great opportunity for us to recognise the incredible contribution of all who work in adult social care across our system. Their dedication and compassion make a profound difference to the lives of countless individuals, providing support and guidance to those in our community who need it the most.”
Sarah Cook, Professional Lead Social Worker at Care Plus Group, said: “In my privileged position as lead social work professional for Care Plus Group, I am immensely proud of the work that the social work team undertake 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
“Social work within Care Plus Group comes in many forms across multiple teams and underpins the high standards of care and support that are synonymous within our organisation.
“Throughout one year, Care Plus Group provide 60.36% of the adult social care function for North East Lincolnshire through our Community Urgent Care Team. Alongside this, our social workers and social care staff work across many settings supporting patients in the Community Inpatient Unit, Reablement at Home, St Andrew’s Hospice, Cromwell Road Resource Centre and The Curzon Centre within hours.
“Working with people usually at the most difficult times, in situations that are often challenging, frightening, confusing and emotive, the professionalism, knowledge, skills and empathy shown by the social work team never waivers.
“As lead social worker, I am passionate about ensuring that the people we serve across North East Lincolnshire receive the highest standard of support and that CPG’s social work team feel empowered to deliver this.”
Laura Cook, Associate Social Work Consultant at Navigo, said: “As social workers working within mental health services, we enter people’s lives at a time when life is difficult for them, and offer support to enable achievement of their goals, aims, hopes and dreams. We ensure that the individual’s voice is at the heart of all we do, and the journey to recovery is facilitated in partnership with them.
“We want to say a massive thank you to all social workers at Navigo and across North East Lincolnshire, who make a difference every day. Everyone deserves somewhere to live, somewhere to work and someone to love – and social work roles within this region supports in making that possible.”
