North East Lincolnshire Council's Infant Feeding Team is excited to announce the launch of a new antenatal breastfeeding workshop at Queensway Family Hub starting next month.

The welcoming and friendly team will be available to offer expert advice and guidance, sharing helpful tips to support the breastfeeding journey.

During the 90-minute sessions, essential topics will be covered, including:

  • How milk production works

  • Colostrum harvesting and expressions

  • Tips for finding comfortable breastfeeding positions

Expectant mums are encouraged to bring a partner or friend along to the workshops for added support.

Sarah Verity, Lead Practitioner for Infant Feeding at North East Lincolnshire Council, hopes these workshops will become a safe and welcoming space for expectant parents:

“We understand that starting the breastfeeding journey can be quite daunting. By holding these workshops at a Family Hub, we hope people feel welcome to come along and learn valuable information before their baby arrives. We want parents to feel prepared and leave the workshops feeling more confident in their feeding choices.”

If this pilot scheme proves popular, the council aims to roll it out across other Family Hubs. Initially, one workshop a month will be held from 3pm-4:30pm on the following dates:

23rd April

13th August

21st May

17th September

18th June

15th October

16th July

19th November

Anyone who is interested in booking a slot should email your full name, due date & workshop date to NELInfantfeedingTeam@nelincs.gov.uk or if you have any questions you can contact the Infant Feeding team Monday-Friday 9am-5pm on 01472 325000.
