Lincoln’s parks awarded the coveted Green Flag Award as they are officially recognised as some of the country’s best parks

City of Lincoln Council is celebrating after receiving Green Flag Awards for Boultham Park, Hartsholme Country Park, Hope Wood and Lincoln Arboretum.

Each site is one of 2,250 in the UK to achieve the award, which is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

The news that four of Lincoln’s parks have met the standards required for the accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that cares for the green spaces so that visitors and residents alike can enjoy them.

Boultham Park has also achieved the Green Heritage Site Accreditation, supported by Historic England, for the management and promotion of its historic features.

Cllr Rebecca Longbottom, Portfolio Holder for Remarkable Place at City of Lincoln Council, said:

"We are incredibly proud that four of our parks have once again received Green Flag Awards, a true reflection of the dedication and passion of our teams and volunteers who care for these vital spaces.

“Our parks are at the heart of our communities, they are places where people can connect with nature, relax, and enjoy some of the very best of what Lincoln has to offer."

“Crucially, each of the four parks is a vital green space for communities in Lincoln to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis it is a free and safe space for families to socialise. The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
