North East Lincolnshire Council’s former Chief Executive, Rob Walsh, has joined renowned film director, Jack Spring, and local actor, Tommy Turgoose, as a Fostering Ambassador.

The voluntary role will see Rob continuing to support fostering in North East Lincolnshire from the sidelines, championing the ongoing recruitment effort and the incredible work of our local foster carers.

The announcement was made as Rob prepared to leave the local authority after 11 years at the helm.

Speaking about the appointment, Rob said:

“Every foster carer I've met during the course of my career has a singular, selfless focus - to love and support the children they look after 24/7.

“They are a special group of people and it's a privilege to play my very small part in championing the work they do for children in North East Lincolnshire.”

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“As an elected member of the Council, I’ve seen Rob’s leadership of the Council first-hand, and have seen his drive for the success of our children with care experience.

“Rob not only brings a wealth of experience, but also has strong links with partner organisations, local businesses and community groups.

“That’s why I’m really pleased that Rob is joining our growing team of fostering ambassadors, to cheer on our foster carers and to support the recruitment of new foster carers.”

Director of children’s services, Ann-Marie Matson, said she was thrilled to have Rob on board as an ambassador.

“The idea of a fostering ambassador is to be a champion for our foster carers, for our children in care, and for our fostering team.

“Rob is absolutely the best person for this. As a Chief Executive he has been so vocal about how wonderful our foster carers are, and about opening up more opportunities for care-experienced young people.

“I’m thrilled to have Rob on board as our newest Fostering Ambassador.”
