If your bins are normally emptied on a Monday, don't forget for the upcoming August Bank Holiday (Monday 31 August) to put them out for collection on the preceding Saturday - that's 29 August.

This collection will be for your black bin, food waste caddy and garden waste bin. Please ensure your bin(s) and caddy are out for collection by 6.30am.

Don’t forget, your food waste caddy can go out every week.

You can always check which bin goes out when on the Council's website.

Fly-tipping warning - and help

Bank holidays are the traditional time for a spot of DIY and a good clearout. Remember that the Household Waste Recycling Centre is open 9am – 4pm across the holiday weekend, including Monday.

Be wary of anyone who offers to take your waste away, especially if it’s unsolicited and/or for cash. If your rubbish ends up fly-tipped it could be traced back to you and you’ll be fined as well as the waste carrier.

Anyone taking rubbish away for you should be registered as a waste carrier, and you can check that online. Plus, we’ve got a handy form that helps you stay safe. Just fill it in using details the waste carrier provides. You’ll also find info about the SCRAP fly-tipping code on our website.

There is no excuse for fly-tipping.
