With one in two people being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, cancer awareness is more important than ever before.

Individuals and businesses can become Cancer Champions by signing up for the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance’s Cancer Champions training. This is free and open to anyone living or working in the whole of the region, including North and North East Lincolnshire.

There are currently 6,203 cancer champions in the Humber and North Yorkshire region helping people to be aware of cancer symptoms and what to look out for.

No skills, qualifications or any specialised knowledge of cancer is required to take part in Cancer Champions training. The free cancer awareness sessions in June, July and August will teach people about the key facts, statistics, symptoms, and screenings linked to a number of cancers.

Cancer Champions are equipped with the knowledge needed to raise awareness about cancer, engage in conversations that could help to reduce the risk of cancer and encourage early diagnosis – when treatment could be simpler and more successful.

You can sign up for the free face-to-face or virtual awareness sessions or organise a bespoke session for your team or organisation.

Visit www.hnycanceralliance.org.uk/cancerchampions for further information. If you have any queries, email the team at hny.cancerchampions@nhs.net or call 07519 120809.

The sessions are open to anyone living or working in North and North East Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, York, East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull.
