So many people go unrecognised in our communities for doing great work for others. The NELC Civic Awards recognise and reward those people. From foster carers, to charities, volunteers, inspirational young people, businesses that positively impact their communities and veterans who provide support for others, we want to say thank you to them all.

Nominations for the Civic Awards 2025 will close at 5pm on January 31, so if you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their selfless contribution to the community, in any one of eight categories, nominate them now by going to North East Lincolnshire Council’s website. https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/your-council/mayor-and-civic-information/

If you need a paper form, please contact the Civic Office by calling 01472) 324101 or sending an e-mail to civic.office@nelincs.gov.uk. If you have any questions about making a nomination, please contact us.

The categories are:

1. The Mayor’s Award - The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire will select the recipient of The Mayor’s Award from all nominations submitted, irrespective of category.
2. Environmental Impact Award - honours those who have made outstanding efforts in promoting environmental sustainability and conservation.
3. Sporting and Wellness Impact Award - recognises the efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of community members through various initiatives.
4. Business in the Community Award - recognises innovative projects or entrepreneurial efforts that have positively impacted the community.
5. Charity of the Year Award - honours those who have dedicated their time and effort to volunteer work and community service.
6. Inspirational Young Person Award - celebrates young individuals (aged 18 years or younger) who have made significant contributions to their community.
7. Veteran Impact Award - recognises the work of a veteran/ex-armed forces (individual or group) who advocates for veterans’ support services and provides support to fellow veterans.
8. Foster Carer’s Impact Award - celebrates an individual who demonstrates unwavering dedication to the well-being of foster children and makes a significant positive impact on the lives of foster children.

Just like these community champions (pictured) from 2024, the winners of the Civic Awards 2025 will be invited to a special ceremony at Grimsby Town Hall on Friday March 7 2025.

Cllr Stephen Beasant, The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, launched the fourth annual Civic Awards 2025 in November, saying he was thrilled that they are returning for another year after his involvement in 2023

Cllr Beasant said: “I urge anyone who has not yet nominated someone they know who deserves recognition in any of the above categories to please do so now. Time is running out for this year’s nominations and I would love to see as many people who deserve to be celebrated included in this year’s awards.”

Each of the eight categories has a presenter who will champion their category. To be accepted, nominations must meet one of the specific criteria for that award. Nominees cannot have received a similar award in the past two years.
