The new Volvo EX60 takes home the Reader Award at 2026 WhatCar? Awards

A Lincoln car retailer is celebrating early success for one of this year’s most eagerly awaited electric vehicles, after the model received a major industry accolade before reaching UK showrooms.

Stoneacre Lincoln, on Lincoln Fields, is marking the announcement after the forthcoming Volvo EX60 was named Reader Award winner at the 2026 What Car? Awards. The accolade recognises the model that readers are most excited to see arrive in the year ahead, highlighting strong anticipation for the EX60 ahead of its launch later this year.

The fully electric premium mid-size SUV was officially unveiled in Sweden on 21 January, with the award win following just a day later. While the EX60 has yet to arrive in the UK, the early recognition underlines growing excitement around Volvo’s next generation of electric vehicles.

Built on Volvo’s most advanced electric car architecture to date, the upcoming EX60 is set to combine progressive Scandinavian design, intelligent technology and cutting-edge safety features, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for quality and innovation.

The fully electric premium mid-size SUV boasts a best-in-class range of up to 500-miles and ultra-fast charging which takes the battery from 10% to 80% in just 19 minutes.

Commenting on the award, What Car? judges said: “The 2026 vote was the closest for years, highlighting the strength of the competition. However, ultimately it was the Volvo EX60 that pulled ahead, and it’s easy to see why when you look at its style and specs.”

They added: “Among premium brands, Volvo is undoubtedly setting the standard for interior quality at the moment. Mixing first-rate assembly standards with materials that look and feel expensive, its cars are unmatched in this area, whether you’re looking for a small SUV, a huge seven-seater, or something in between. Plus, its seats are among the most comfortable and supportive at any price.”

The EX60’s win also contributes to a strong showing for the Volvo brand at the awards, with several other models across the range recognised for their design, interior quality and usability.

Andy McInnes, at Stoneacre Lincoln on Lincoln Fields, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Volvo EX60 receive such a positive response even before it arrives in the UK. We’re delighted that our excitement for the launch is echoed by UK drivers and readers of What Car? Magazine.

“Although customers will have to wait a little longer to see it at Stoneacre Lincoln and on Lincoln roads, this award gives a great indication of the innovation, design and technology they can expect when the EX60 becomes available later this year.

“We’re equally pleased to see so many of our other models recognised for their interiors, design, and style – reflecting the strength of our award-winning lineup here in Lincoln.”

Drivers in Lincoln who would like to learn more about the Volvo EX60 ahead of its UK arrival can speak to the team at Stoneacre Lincoln by calling 01522 501701, or visiting the showroom on Lincoln Fields.
