Film director, Jack Spring, has been named a Fostering Ambassador, as part of a Council initiative to recruit and promote the work of foster carers.

Spring is best known to local people as the director of critically acclaimed feature film, Three Day Millionaire, as well as the limited series ‘All Town Aren’t We’ which followed GTFC’s battle for promotion.

The director is only the second person to be named a Fostering Ambassador under the Council’s campaign, following in the footsteps of local This is England actor, Tommy Turgoose, who was named the first fostering ambassador in North East Lincolnshire at an NSPCC event in August.

Speaking about the accolade, North East Lincolnshire Council’s director of children’s services, Ann-Marie Matson, said:

“We wanted to build up a cadre of ambassadors to champion our young people on a local, national and international stage.

“In recent months we’ve built up a network of local businesses, charities and schools that are showing support for our foster carers, whether that’s through discounts on goods and services, or through additional annual leave for their employees who are foster carers.

“This is all important because our children are our future, and they are all our responsibility, so whether you’re a business, a local resident, or a celebrity, these children are relying on you to support them and to build a better future for them.

“We met Jack at an event a few months ago, and instantly he showed an interest in the story of our foster carers, and the challenges around recruiting new foster carers. He was keen to help, and is now supporting some of our work.

“We are really pleased to name Jack as our second Foster-friendly Ambassador. I know that he will inspire our young people through his work, and champion the importance of fostering.”

Jack Spring said:

“I’m really thrilled to have been named as a fostering ambassador for North East Lincolnshire.

“In England, more than 57,000 children are living in foster care, and I know that the need for new foster carers is pressing because without local foster carers, children often have to be sent out of their area to live, away from their friends and communities.”

Fostering is an amazing and rewarding journey that can change a child’s life and future.
