This inspiring event shone a well-deserved spotlight on their dedication, resilience, and contributions across a range of categories, including sport, education and learning, friendship, community involvement, and environmental action.
The evening also recognised the adults and organisations that play a vital role in supporting these young individuals, celebrating their commitment to inclusion and empowerment. Families, educators, and local leaders came together to witness moving moments of recognition, as winners were celebrated for their outstanding determination and positive impact.
Adding to the excitement, uplifting stories of the winners were shared through powerful video features played during the event, offering a glimpse into their journeys and the incredible possibilities that emerge with the right support and encouragement. These stories serve as an inspiration to all, demonstrating the impact of inclusion, perseverance, and community support.
We encourage everyone to continue celebrating these remarkable young people by watching and sharing these videos. By sharing their stories, we can raise awareness, foster greater support for SEND, and ensure more young individuals have the opportunity to shine. Together, we can create a more inclusive community and show the world what’s possible when we uplift and empower every child and young person.
Councillor Margaret Cracknell, Portfolio Holder for Children and Education, praised the event's importance: "The achievements of these remarkable young people are truly inspiring. Their dedication and resilience remind us of the power of support, encouragement, and inclusion. This event is not only a celebration but a call to action for everyone in our community to get involved, recognise the potential of all young people, and ensure that no talent or determination goes unnoticed."
Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children’s Services said, “In order to grow the borough, we need all our children and young people to be offered the very best opportunities to be able to reach their full potential. This means that they can look to their future with high hopes and positivity.
“The awards reflect the work put in by professionals and parent carers as well as young people. Their achievements are a result of their own sheer will and determination to overcome additional challenges as well as the networks of support around them.”
Rebecca Taylor, Head of SEND and Inclusion at North East Lincolnshire Council said, "The SEND Awards are a powerful celebration of our children’s incredible potential. It’s a heartwarming community event that uplifts, inspires, and reminds us what’s possible when we all come together. Everyone has something special that deserves to be recognised.
"Working in this area we know that there are a limitless number of successes to acknowledge, so we are so grateful for the educators, friends, families and other individuals who cast nominations. We want everyone to be a part of this joyful journey and for the ceremony to grow every year. "
Looking ahead to 2026, nominations for next year’s awards will open soon. People are encouraged to submit nominations, ensuring every young person with additional needs gets their chance to be recognised.
