People Power Partnership”, (PPP), is on the hunt for eight unique individuals, aged 18-30 with a passion for dance to take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with international organisations from across Europe.
PPP is a 4-year, physical street theatre project that celebrates the power of young people from 11 countries across Europe with the help of 14 partner organisations.
As part of the Grimsby Creates programme, Magna Vitae are working virtually with colleagues across Europe on the world-class €4 million Creative Europe project which will showcase local talent on an international scale.
Each partner will select a group of young adults to work closely with lead partner Pan Optikum (Freiburg, Germany) to develop a spectacular street theatre piece with a deliberate focus on socially relevant issues.
As one of these partners, Magna Vitae are looking for 8 passionate young adults, aged 18-30, from the UK to represent themselves and Grimsby in Europe.
As part of the team, in year 1, you’ll come together with the team from Freiburg, to create a piece of street theatre expressed through hip-hop. Hip-hop culture is built on understanding local political and social issues. Performances will be based on the themes chosen by you and consequently will be unique to Grimsby, its people, and their perspectives on society.
In year 2, you’ll travel to Germany with the other teams, to create a large performance piece which will be performed at a premiere in the city. Then, in years 3 and 4, you’ll take that large performance piece on tour around Europe!
Auditions will be held in Grimsby on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 November with callbacks and a photoshoot on Sunday 21 Nov! You can read more about the project and sign up by 8 November: https://pppgrimsby.co.uk.
Cllr Callum Procter, Cabinet member for culture, said: “This is a really exciting programme where Grimsby’s amazing creative talent can get involved with others on an international scale. I’m really looking forward to putting Grimsby on the map for great cultural reasons!”
Magna Vitae want to fully reflect the communities of Grimsby and we welcome applications from all backgrounds. If you share an enthusiasm for dance and hip-hop culture, they’d love to hear from you.
Other partners include Germany, Denmark, Romania, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, Portugal and the Czech Republic. This fantastic project will enable Grimsby to develop and showcase its world class potential with a scale and ambition that can shape its future.
The project is part of the Creative Europe Programme of the EU and 50% funded by the Commission.
Grimsby Creates is funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and administered by Arts Council England as part of the Cultural Development Fund (CDF).
