Lincoln’s former Superbowl site is to become home to students currently attending courses at the University of Lincoln.
Lincoln-based Chartered Surveyors Banks Long & Co, who acted on behalf of client Castle Square Developments (CSD), are delighted to have secured planning permission for new student housing on the Valentine Road site, off Tritton Road.
Planners at the City of Lincoln Council, who own the site, have given approval for a total of 462 en-suite bedrooms, to be created by way of 77 town houses, each containing six-bedroomed accommodation.
A 90-space car park will also be created on the site.
John Lockwood, Chairman of Developer, Castle Square Developments said:
We are pleased that the Council have approved the application. We are working closely with the University and as a Lincoln based developer we are keen to build accommodation with car parking which will help relieve some of the pressure on traditional housing areas such as the West End.
Tim Bradford, Managing Director of agents for the developer, Banks Long & Co said:
We are delighted with this decision as this is a new type of student accommodation designed as self-contained town houses with car parking. The site is ideal, close to the University, accessible by car and will complete the Valentine Road development area.
Planners concluded that the site was suitable for residential purposes and said the development would contribute toward the continued growth of the University.
The new development will be managed by the University of Lincoln whose continued growth is one factor allowing Lincoln to expand its influence within the East Midlands region.
