Santa and his Elves will be making an appearance at the Spalding Christmas Celebration on Sunday 8 December in Spalding Market Place and at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens.
The event, from 10:30am until 4:30pm, will have seasonal stalls, festival farm animals, choir groups and brass bands as well as stilt walking reindeers.
Rachel Rowett, Community Development Manager at South Holland District Council said: “We are really excited about this event and we are looking forward to seeing lots of people, young and old, coming to Ayscoughfee and the town centre to enjoy some of the festive events that we have on offer.
“Christmas is all about bringing people together and celebrating with friends and family. There will be lots of Christmas spirit and cheer and we encourage lots of people to come along to help make event one to remember.”
Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens will get into the Christmas spirit with festive decorations, a vintage carousel and swing boats. Even Santa himself will be making an appearance on his sleigh, reading stories until 1:00pm.
Whether it’s shopping at over 40 seasonal stalls, selling everything from cakes to jewellery, or grabbing a quick family selfie in the Giant Snow Globe, there is plenty for all to come and enjoy at the event.
As well as Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens, Spalding’s town centre will be brought to life by festive farm animals, including goats Bob and Sox, Billy and Lilly the sheep, Dash the donkey, and Punch and Judy the two geese. Not forgetting an extremely friendly Labrador dog to help keep them all in order.
Local choir groups, brass bands and singers will entertain people throughout the day, bringing festive music for all around, followed by Carols by Candlelight at the Christmas tree in Hall Place at 4:00pm.
As part of the Christmas Celebration event, South Holland District Council is running a ‘Nutcracker Trail’ competition. Watch the video here.
