St Andrew’s Hospice provides 24-hour care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. It currently costs £5.5-million a year to run the hospice and with only 18% statutory funding, the charity relies on public generosity to fund the rest.
St Andrew’s Hospice celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2019, whilst Andy’s, the Children’s Hospice, is also 18 this year! There are a number of ‘Ruby Anniversary’ celebrations including the publication of a local history book.
A brand new book, ‘Making Each Day Count: 40 Years of The Great and The Good’ tells not only the story of the hospice since it began in 1979, but includes social history from the town of Great Grimsby and is packed with local history, memories, photographs, letters from patients and families, fundraiser stories and excerpts from news articles.
In addition to the book, there are a wide range of ways in which you can support the St Andrew’s Hospice, including it’s fantastic Big Fish Lottery Tel: 01472 350908 | www.standrewshospice.com
