Fancy grabbing yourself a bargain for as little as 10p in aid of local charities? Then the Community Recycling Centre in Estuary Way, Grimsby, is the place to be.
NEWLINCS Development Ltd in conjunction with North East Lincolnshire Council bring and buy sales will be returning on 29 March.
Last year’s sales raised £18,010 for local charities including St Andrew’s Hospice, Bosom Buddies, Friendship at Home, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, MS Therapy Centre, The Stroke Association, Jerry Greens and The Ark.
The Bring and Buy events are held on the last Friday of the month from March through to October.
From tables and chairs, to toys, games and jewellery, there’s plenty of pre-loved items on offer.
Bike sales also run throughout the year each month (except for December), with the next one being on 28 March.
You can get an adult bike for as little as £10 and a child’s bike from £3.
Councillor Matthew Patrick, portfolio holder for environment, said: “The Community Recycling Centre is a great way of reducing, reusing and recycling – a way for everyone to do their bit for the environment while grabbing a bargain at the same time and supporting local charities.”
Councillor Steve Beasant, chairman of the overview and scrutiny committee, said: “These events mean people can recycle good quality items that would have otherwise been thrown away. It’s fantastic that £18,010 was raised for local charities last year.”
Sharon Hunt, NEWLINCS operations director, added: “It is totally amazing what people throw away. These sale days are a great way for people to donate unwanted items so that other people can benefit from them, while at the same time raising money for local charities and good causes.”
