91 year-old volunteer, Pauline, took home the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award last night at the first ever East Midlands Charity Awards and Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire bagged ‘Rising Star’ for ‘East Midlands Charity of the Year’.
Around 200 guests attended the East Midlands Charity Awards last night, coming together to celebrate the amazing work done by and for charities in Lincoln, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire were finalists in 2 categories: Volunteer of the Year and East Midlands Charity of the Year.
‘Volunteer of the Year’ was won by Pauline, a volunteer of Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire who has given more than 31 years and 5,000 volunteer hours to the organisation. Ilona Alcock, who hosted the event spoke of Pauline saying “Pauline’s passion and dedication and commitment to Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire is awe inspiring, her wicked sense of humor bringing light, energy and laughter to the organisation shone through.”
Later in the evening came the ‘East Midlands Charity of the Year’ award. Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire were one of 15 finalists in this category and won the ‘Rising Star’ award. This is an amazing achievement for the local Age UK brand partner who have tripled in size in the last 3 years and now cover all of South Lincolnshire.
Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire put Lincoln and its surrounding areas on the map last night, and these awards are just a sign of things to come from the Rising Star in East Midlands.
