Former Cleethorpes theme park Pleasure Island is set to appear in a new All 4 series Britain’s Abandoned Playgrounds.
The six-part series follows young urban athletes to different locations, where the history of each location is revealed and residents share their memories of the forgotten spaces.
This project is a great way of celebrating and breathing new life into bits of Britain that have been forgotten, and with Salt Street Productions pedigree in urban sports, it will be in a completely innovative, exciting style.
Sheffield-based Salt Street Production will produce the show.
Pleasure Island closed at the end of 2016 due to decreased in footfall and the unpredictable Lincolnshire weather. Young freerunners, highliners, BMX riders and skateboarders will take part in the show, which will air on All 4 and an on demand service by Channel 4 in November.
Female freerunner, Katie McDonnell, has created and uploaded a Vlog to her Youtube channel about the series: The Shipyard | Abandoned Playgrounds | Behind The Scenes
They were keen to use the spectacle of adventure and urban sports in a totally new way, so when the team at Salt Street met with All 4 Commissioning editors, they knew that there was the potential to do something amazing.
