The number of car parking spaces in Gainsborough is expected to nearly double in the next two years to cater for increased demand in the town.

The number of car parking spaces in Gainsborough is expected to nearly double in the next two years to cater for increased demand in the town.

A total of 43% more spaces will be created as work takes place on the new Lidl Supermarket and Travelodge hotel. September 2017 will see thirty new spaces made available in the Bridge Street Car Park and six will be available in North Street Car Park.

A new car park at the new Lidl establishment will also provide a further 130 spaces free for 90 minutes from November this year with thirty new spaces created in the Roseway Car Park by September 2018.

A further 140 car parking spaces across the town as the town centre develops from 2020 are hoped to be made available. West Lindsey District Council is looking to put permits back on sale from April 2018, which previously were halted due to high level of demand for the service.

It has been recognised that sufficient car parking is a crucial part of the exciting plans for the regeneration of town. Residents and local businesses expressed their desire for more parking and the new strategy for Gainsborough will support their needs with other plans also pushing ahead for new car parks to be developed and spaces acquired for 2021 in line with demand.
