OSJCT runs 69 homes across the country, including 15 in Lincolnshire. Residents in all of the Trust’s homes will join thousands of others in care settings across the UK in singing ‘Sing’ by the Carpenters. Employees at The Trust’s Operations Centre in Witney, Oxfordshire, Support Centre in Wellingore, Lincolnshire, and regional offices in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire will also be taking part.

The 3pm sing-along has been organised by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), the charitable membership organisation representing more than 2,500 activity co-ordinators working in the care sector.

The Comic Relief performance will mark the launch of NAPA’s Carry On Singing Challenge, which runs until June and encourages people to get together regularly to stage short singing sessions, as singing aids people’s health and wellbeing.

As well as residents and employees, OSJCT has invited relatives and members of the local community, including volunteers and school children, to join in the sing song.

OSJCT Area Operations Director, Caroline Dungan, says

We’re really looking forward to Red Nose Day and having a good old sing-along to a classic song, which the residents love.

Hopefully, as well as staying in tune, we will also raise some money for Comic Relief through donations.

NAPA plays a very important role in supporting our employees and providing activities that are respectful, creative, innovative and fun for residents, so we’re delighted to be taking part in their Sing A Song Challenge.

OSJCT employs over 4,000 employees and cares for more than 3,500 older people – all of whom will be singing along to The Carpenters’ 1973 hit, which was written by Joe Raposo for the children’s television show Sesame Street.
