Poets will be popping up in the four Lincs Inspire Libraries – Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Immingham and Waltham – on Thursday 6th October throughout the day to deliver readings of well-loved poetry.
There will also be opportunities to hear local poets reading their own works, with a chance to hear poems from Gordon Wilson, Carolyn Doyley, Maria Garner, Lynda Platter, David Cooke and Paul Sutherland as part of the celebrations for National Poetry Day.
Steve Hipkins, Head of Cultural Services for Lincs Inspire, said:
This is a great combination of well-known poems and work by some of our best local poets. There is no better way to enjoy poetry than to hear it read live and National Poetry Day provides the perfect platform for us to present a generous helping of live poetry in our libraries.
David Power, Chair of the Lincs Inspire Arts and Libraries sub-group, said:
We are delighted with this combination of well-loved poetry and support for some of the best of our local poets. We hope as many people as possible will come to our libraries to enjoy the live poetry.
Admission is free. Just come along and enjoy some live poetry reading!
