Waterside Shopping Centre names Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust as its charity partner for remainder of 2016

Lincoln’s premier indoor shopping destination – Waterside Shopping Centre – has selected Lincoln City FC Sport & Education Trust (LCFCSET) as its 2016 Charity Partner of the Year.

Mary-Jane Booth, Marketing Coordinator at Waterside Shopping Centre said:

We’re super excited about working with LCFCSET throughout the rest of the year.

Following our successful partnerships with Framework last year and Lincolnshire Sport in 2014, we were keen to choose another local charity that not only plays a pivotal role in Lincoln, but is also creative in how to engages with the community. In the end, LCFCSET’s application stood out from all the rest.

LCFCSET has shown a real passion for making a difference in Lincoln by not only inspiring individuals and communities to become more active, but by providing loads of opportunities to do just that. They’re absolutely brilliant, and we can’t wait to start working with them!

Paul Hamnett, Trust Manager for Lincoln City Sport & Education Trust, added:

We couldn’t be happier about having the opportunity to partner with Waterside this year. The centre gets tens of thousands of visitors every year, so if we can encourage just a small percentage of them to become a bit more active or make a positive lifestyle change, we’ll be thrilled.

The great thing about Waterside is that it attracts people of all ages and walks of life which will give us a fantastic opportunity to engage with members of many of Lincoln’s distinct communities, who will then hopefully go on to encourage others and so on.

We have some really great ideas about how to make the most of this opportunity and will be putting on loads of fun activities and events throughout the rest of 2016, starting with a Summer Sports Day at the end of July.

As part of the partnership, LCFCSET will work with Waterside throughout the rest of the year to help build awareness of its many initiatives and programmes by running a series of pop-up shops, competitions, sporting challenges and indoor activities.

Mary-Jane continued:

I think our shoppers will really enjoy everything LCFCSET has in store over the coming months – and we can’t wait to help them make even more of an impact in Lincoln!
