It is thought that the new establishment will create a major job boost with employment for between 45 to 60 people with the renovation of the former Little Chef. This new retail development held recruitment days in the Nags Head pub, Laceby and Grimsby Town Hall, which saw hundreds of people of all ages attending to apply for jobs at various companies located in the new roadside service complex.

Flocks of people were showing interest in employment at the new petrol and food service complex which will be home to Spar, Subway and Greggs. Job vacancies on offer will include placements in retail assistants for Spar, sandwich artists for Subway and managerial positions in the various establishments.

More than 1000 people packed out Grimsby Town Hall at the Just The Job recruitment fair with over 30 local employers showcasing their vacancies and handing out application forms. This massive event was organised by North East Lincolnshire Council in partnership with Jobcentre Plus. The event was a big success for Blakemore Retail and the fair presented a great opportunity for the developers to fill vacancies in the new complex near the Oaklands Hotel.

The former Little Chef site has stood derelict for around 20 years, but construction of the development finally began in November 2015. It is believed that Shell will be the operating line for the petrol station that’s planned for the site, however this has not yet been confirmed.
