The opening of a specialised new career college in Lincoln will open its doors to students in September 2016. Partnered with Lincoln College, the Royal Air Force and global aerospace engineering firms are to launch their new Career College in Air and Defence.

The aviation industry attracts many ambitious teenagers and they are now being given the opportunity to aim for the sky! Air and Defence students will be able to specialise in Engineering, Computer Sciences or Catering. The college will originally accept 72 students over the age of 16 in its first year and branch out to 14-year-olds in its second year.

The college, whose campus is situated on Monks Road, believes that the new project provides opportunities for the young people of Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas to secure worthwhile and rewarding careers, as well as learning valuable life skills and developing their personalities and individual qualities. Students who exceed expectations will get the chance to go up in a trainer jet, and graduates who meet the Royal Air Force recruitment criteria will be guaranteed a place on RAF Basic Recruit Training.

They will be introduced to real life working environments on RAF bases and in engineering firms such as Thales and Raytheon. Students will also be subjected to regular RAF fitness and adventure training. They will have the opportunity to complete Duke of Edinburgh Awards and go on a residential course designed by the Royal Air Force and the Royal Society of Engineers.
