Charlotte Telford, Maplin Store Manager commented:

We are extremely pleased to be welcoming PCSO Clare Hart and invite customers to join us to learn more about how to make their home more secure.

The team and I have a deep knowledge of products and can assist with a variety of security matters so we really hope customers come along and take advantage of the service.

PCSO Clare Hart said:

I’m really pleased to be working with St Marks and Maplin to help offer some home security advice, especially as October is National Home Security Month.

I’m sure most of us are aware of the basics of home security but it never hurts to just remind people. Home is where you are your family spending most of your time and crime committed in or around your home can be some of the most disturbing, which is why simple, basic precautions can help deter opportunistic thieves.

They are common sense really and include things like making sure your doors and windows are locked and secure, using timers for lights and radios for hours of darkness when a burglar might be looking for an empty house, considering fitting an approved burglar alarm system, not leaving valuables or spare keys on display.

They are just some examples and there are many other steps that can be taken to improve home security. I’m looking forward to meeting with customers to discuss them further, and also asking people to visit our website for some further advice and tips.

Valerie Johnson, Centre Manager commented:

It is brilliant to see Maplin and the PCSO Clare Hart working together to provide this amazing service to St. Marks and Lincoln shoppers.

National Home Security Month is designed to create awareness around the importance of home security and to encourage people to make home security a key priority at all times.
