You may remember the story back in June of Celebration the Seal Pup being found at Frampton Marsh surrounded by 30 curious cows……..Well, after 16 weeks of care at Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary, she is ready for release!
Celebration was spotted by Mr Ian Ellis at Frampton Marsh RSPB Reserve and with the help of RSPB warden Toby Collett managed to move her to safety where she was collected by Natureland Seal Sanctuary.
Initially, she was underweight and orphaned so required rehydrating and regular feeds to build her back up. A few weeks into her care she developed a lung infection, but fortunately, due to the diligence of the staff, it was spotted early and so treated with strong antibiotics.
Once it was certain that Celebration was free from infections she and another seal pup, Charlie were moved to the Rearing Pool to get fit and gain weight.
Both Celebration and Charlie have now reached a suitable weight so will be taken to the beach behind Natureland Seal Sanctuary and released on Tuesday 13th October.
Mr Ellis will be there to watch the pup he helped to save go back to the wild.
